Title: Fulvia S2 and Noise Regulations
Post by: drdafeller on 09 December, 2019, 02:30:59 PM
Hi. I have a 1971 Fulvia s2 coupe with a rather rambunctious motor. At the Goodwood Track Day this year my car was not quiet enough for them, and I would like to quiet it down a bit to avoid problems at other track days. As I am not sure why it is so loud, should I:

1.  Replace the stock muffler(s) with new stock items and see if that stops the problem, or
2.  Make use of the expertise at my local competition supplier and have a quieter system built, or
3.  Other?

Thanks for your suggestions.

David

David

I am selling a group 4 Omicron exhaust (as am going a different path) - advt in back of Dec VL.

I was worried that it would be too loud for track use but I have had no problem with the 98db level at Goodwood, Snetterton, and Brands.

Interested??

Tim

If you have a stock muffler it may just be that you need to change your exhaust tip.  Do an internet search on reducing exhaust noise and there are several very inexpensive things you could try before you shell out big bucks for a new exhaust.

Thanks for the replies. Fighting off the urge to go Group 4 in full stainless (!), I think I'll try a new end silencer. There don't seem to be any leaks anywhere.
