Title: Windscreen wiper motors
Post by: chriswgawne on 21 October, 2019, 08:57:11 AM
I have a couple of good SWF Aurelia wiper motors with the ball connection on the rotating arm. The motors look identical with no real markings but the rotating arms come to rest either pointing towards the electrical connections or away - can anyone tell me easily which is rhd and which is lhd please.
At this very moment our cars are offsite in storage due to building work and not so easy to go and look at.
Thanks
Chris

I am not sure there is any difference you can take them apart and change where they the blade and arm park.  My problem is my wipers are far too fast do you have any ideas ?

Velleman make an intermittent wiper control. I have fitted one to both my B12 and Flavia 2000 coupe.
The circuit board is about two-thirds the size of a credit card and is easily mounted behind the fashboard and using the spare hole next to the three existing knobs. The device provides a single wipe at, as I recall, every 5, 10 or 15 seconds.
Alternatively, if you just want the wipers to move slowly experiment with a low resistance in series with the motor. I think something like 5 ohms or so. Needs ro be a ceramic, wire-wound type though.

Brian thank you for your post and your positive suggestions.
I wanted to make sure the wiper system was ok as mine are very fast at 3,000 revs
My Aurelia is  producing at 3,000 rpm 14.5 volts.  have also checked the amp output  which is about 5/ 8 amps.

I have come to the conclusion that I may have the wrong wiper motor fitted. It may be an 2nd/3rd series Appia wiper motor which does not have the gearboxes (which I guess are x2) on the shafts.
I currently looking for the correct motor which should be I believe a SWF 3350 wiper motor.
