Title: Garage recommendation needed
Post by: Scott on 20 February, 2008, 02:19:45 PM
Hi

I own a series 2 Fulvia Coupé that needs various bits of (minor) work done to it.
Living in Berkshire I need to see if anyone knows of a garage they can recommend.
I realise that Richard Thorne Classic Cars is based near Reading but - and I may have been unlucky - having used them twice in the past I was left somewhat underwhelmed.  :(
Another garage - Auto-Integrale - bluntly told me that they are too busy dealing with the newer Lancias: "we don't have enought time to deal with the old stuff".  ::)

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Scott

Yes, Peter Harding definitely. He has done lots of excellent work on my S2 HF, knows the cars inside out and is an all-round thoroughly good bloke. There's usually an Aurelia or two in his workshop too.

Thank you very much for the prompt responses.
Peter Harding it is then - and from the postcode I can see he's pretty close.
Thanks once again.  :)

I am sure Peter would be amused if he knew of this thread. But if it’s a competition, I would like to join in! Note my earlier unsolicited reference to Mr Harding’s prowess on 13 February, which pre-dates all of you. It’s in a thread on ‘Types of clutch’ under Aprilia etc…. Is there a prize and if so, can I claim it?

For any major engine work I would recommend the legendary Peter Gerrish.

Yes, I would agree with that – Peter Gerrish is a great source of Fulvia knowledge and skill. Fulvia owners should also be informed about Graham Bates of GB Engineering at Odiham (Hampshire) who can do brilliant things with welded metal. I’ll give you contact details if you need them.
