Title: Friction Washer for choke lever
Post by: michaelkaye on 27 January, 2019, 05:56:14 PM
Hi all.

Just wondering if anyone knows where I could get a replacement friction washer for the choke lever.

Lever wasn’t staying in place and stupidly I snapped the washer when taking it apart.

Any ideas for replacements or alternatives, gratefully received.

Thanks, Michael.

In a few cases the choke lever moves back because there is a problem with the wire cable at the carb end. Check that the cable does not flap back once the lever is fully pushed in. Andrea

Thanks Andrea. Cable at the carb end looks fine. I do think it's the washer and now it's broken…any idea where to get one?

Thanks Chris. Here’s a picture of the washer. It’s about 25 mm in diameter.

Thanks, Michael.

Could you not use a wavy washer something like this?

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Metric-A2-Stainless-Steel-Crinkle-Wavy-Washers-M1-6-M3-M4-M5-M6-M8-M10-M12-M16-/371247342679

I assume it is M6?

Thanks, I’ll give it a try. Was just hoping to find an original (however unlikely).

Chris that would be fantastic. No huge rush, so happy to wait.

Really appreciated. Michael.

I was rummaging around for something else today and found that the heater control lever use the same friction washer.

I believe the same washer appears on all the drop down levers under the dash of a Flaminia, probably most other Lancias of the period too.

I think Aurelias used a coil spring between cup washers to give some adjustment to the friction required by the choke and hand throttle levers under the steering column.

Hi Chris. Yes that’s exactly it. But I need to send my apologies because Roddy Young sent me a washer last week, so I’m no longer looking.

I should have updated the thread. Apologies if I’ve wasted your time.

Thanks, Michael

My apologies…had some personal issues (dying dog) so this kind of got de-prioritised. Again my apologies.
