Title: Delta HPE - Update
Post by: M666 EVO on 31 May, 2018, 08:20:48 AM
As you can see, I couldn't let go. After some serious words with myself, some advice from a few chaps on here (you know who you are, many thanks) and even a pep talk from my old indy specialist, I managed to get Larry "the HPE" to Neil over at Project Lancia.

What was potentially a bit of an big issue, after some digging and testing, the dash warning light issue was the after market alarm which has now been removed and the non running is a vacuum pipe. Fingers crossed with some more slight fettling Larry will be running like a dream again.

Then it'll be on to the rear damage  :o

That's the spirit. Mine was off the road for two years at one point but i'm glad I persevered. I try to drive it at least twice a month as I am a firm believer that the less use a car gets the less reliable it seems to be! Keep us posted on progress.

After 18 months, the Delta is back on the road, repaired, running, taxed and MOT'd. I am happy...

However, due to the side damage I need to find side skirts - any ideas where I can find these - probably second hand? Or is it worth going to a specialist?

Hello there,

That's very good news indeed.
Regarding the side skirts, occasionally cars pop up on subito.it orautoscout24 that are being broken. Alternatively, my side skirts are off the car at the moment as it is having new sills fabricated and welded due to serious corrosion lurking behind the skirts which resulted in failing the last MOT. I would have thought any fibreglass specialist could copy them fairly easily (although I see we are at opposite ends of the country!). I'm happy to enquire at the workshop where my work is being carried out to see if they think it's possible if you wish.

Thanks very much Ian, that is very kind but yes we are a distance apart - plus I have them both but one is currently a bit knackered.

I could always take them both off completely as it looks quite good with the one side off.

On a separate note my central locking is starting to play up - when you turn the key the knob keeps popping back up, passenger side is OK! Its one thing after another lately ha ha
