The description is more than a little vague plus it was being sold at no reserve. Still, at nearly 50,000 Euros it's a start point - as to where the end point is, you just never know! On a different subject, if you catch Motors TV's review of the Autosport Show, there's an excellent piece on Lancia Rally success with little Tony Mason talking about the Delta, Stratos and O37. It seems the world is finally catching on! I have only looked at the description and the photos in the Bonhams online catalog (still available online). The engine looks like B10 or B12. Nice how the photographer hid the complete engine serial number, with Bxx prefix, and the valve covers. No photograph of the engine compartment, nor of the interior. The description, as another poster wrote, is very cautious about the car. The fascia is not of a 4th series, but of a later 5th or 6th, with the late Jaeger instruments, and the ashtrays. It is a good example of the way sale catalogs are written: Caveat emptor. But all Lancias sold, at solid prices. This cannot be said of most of the more expensive machinery that was in the catalog. Not sure what signal this is in today's market? What a lot of style and car for your money!
Disappointing that guides should be so ambiguous (or even misleading). Brings home the message that it pays to be a part of a club and forum that if you ask you can get good advice across the spectrum. |
