Can anyone recommend a supplier of a good quality exhaust system for my Flavia Vignale?

IMASAF make high quality mild steel exhausts and there are various re-sellers around. The factory may also do a direct shipping service. They will fit a new exhaust at the factory N of Padova if you take the car along.
The online web catalogue list a number of Flavia variants and the last time I used them there was someone in Customer Service who spoke good enough  English to deal with my query which was a little complicated as we have a 'big bore' 50mm centre section adapted Fulvia Coupe centre section on our GTE Sedan with a modified down pipe which we wanted replaced as existing. She said they could do it and they did just that!

I bought an IMASAF exhaust for my Flavia Vignale and am very happy with it. Good value too, I think. I've bought from them for my B10 also. Both bought via an online seller in Germany on ebay.de (a forum recommendation, IIRC).

As a Fulvia (not Flavia) owner I do not want to hijack this thread but I wondered what the forum view is on painting exhausts.  I have a new Imasaf system waiting to fit to my Fulvia, and have been wondering whether it makes any sense to paint it.  I have bought the complete system from the two-into-one section back to the tailpipe.   Would appreciate any views on this.

I suspect exhausts rust out from the inside as much as the outside so painting probably isn't worth it. What do others think.

I painted the exhaust on the furgoncino because I thought it looked better, nothing to do with thermal efficiency or rust protection (see above) , but in theory it should help dissipate heat, but the reality ??

In reality you want to keep the heat in the exhaust and boil of all that nasty water that will rot the exhaust. I used to run a Vauxhall Victor 2 litre and a replacement exhaust was needed annually as it used to be driven 4 miles in traffic to work in the morning and 4 miles back on a night...however you could put a gallon of petrol in the car have a couple of pints and finish off with some fish and chips all for under a 1....... aaahhh the good old days

Heresy alarm!
All my cars have stainless exhausts. I agree the timbre of them is not ideal but I never have to fiddle around in the dark and cold (always problems in Winter) and the oldest one (Aurelia in 1986) is still solid and only had to come off when engine issue and even then removed in one piece. Found invoice and the 2 pipes cost 330 ie 11/yr. Worth every penny.

The Imasaf system fitted to my Delta two years and 2500 miles ago still looks like new ,except for the chrome tip which pitted overnight after a 20 mile trip on salted roads!

Anyone catch Goblin Works Garage no the TV?   In the Norton cafe racer build they used a click together kit of plastic tubes and bends to make a pattern.  He threw the sketch in the bin and came up with something TIGHT to the bike.  Bit concerned where trousers might meet pipe...but quite a feature.
