I'm curious... is it some sort of wax filled piston with a plunger that opens a valve letting in more fuel during cold conditions?

Hi All

We received this email about this cold start valve being remade. Hope it may help someone.

Peter

Email received

“Hi Lancia MC admin,

I am David Lacey, a BMW 2002 driver....i wanted to connect with your members to hilite that after a few years effort we have remanufactured the unobtainium thermostat/actuator that controls the cold start on these kugelfischer pumps. Same part was used in the Lancia application.
I saw this thread that hiltes the part:
http://www.lancia.myzen.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=9906.0

Heres the BMW thread that addresses our identical problems:
https://www.bmw2002faq.com/forums/topic/292252-rebuilding-the-tii-warm-up-regulator-wur/

And the part we developed is now available via the website shop:
https://store.bmw2002faq.com/collections/parts/products/bmw-2002tii-warm-up-regulator-rebuild-kit

This is not some super commercial offering, we are similar car enthusiasts trying to keep the cars on the road, just covering the engineering costs of commissioning this part. Appreciate your help to share with your members or your advice on how to connect,

Thanks,

Dave”

Interesting.

I do not have the car in question anymore but had found the unit on my car was working as it should.

Could be interesting to ask the Flavia Consortium to hold stock.
