Hello all

I just wanted to write to say hello and explain that I will be getting involved in this forum. My brother and I have owned an S3 Appia Sedan since 1987. A left hand drive car, coming to the UK in 1968 (it had an age relevant plate, F I think) we re-registered it with an age appropriate plate, TSU 306. Wind forward to 2001, I had emigrated to Australia and the Appia went to Tucson with my brother where it languished with a few issues that kept it off the road. My brother never seemed to find the time to sort the issues out. I returned to the UK in 2004, and recently my brother came back to the UK too. We couldn't bring ourselves to leave the Appia in the US, despite it not really making economic sense to ship it for the second time. I did get married in it after all (my young son's used to call it 'the egg', more for the colour than the shape)!

So now back in Cambridge, UK, I plan to sort the issues out and see if I can get an MOT. It ultimately needs significant body work (essentially four new wings - which my brother and I bodged in the early 1990s - there might be other hidden horrors too) and if it doesn't make the MOT I shall set about a long slow project to get it back to its former glory.

Anyway, I just wanted to say hello. I will be joining the Appia consortium this weekend

I would include a picture but I can't work out how to insert one!

Cheers
Simon

Welcome, and I congratulate you on your faithfulness. I look forward to hearing of your investigations and works as they progress. It will be a lovely car again in the fullness of time.

Excellent news ..... and well done on the complete disregard for financial sense in shipping it back to the UK.

Well done especially from a perseverance and defying logic perspective, dare I say!

But, its great to see another Appia being loved and saved.

Do keep us appraised of your efforts and now you've mastered uploading pics we look forward to plenty more!

Good to have you on the forum too. There is an Appia consortium within the LMC, so no doubt they will be your first port of call.

Hi

Yes, thanks for the info. Was a member of the consortium years back and Don Cross knows Ed (my brother) and me.

I have a small parts list to get, so will be in touch
