Given the days thats in it as they say over here, plus the first round of the French presidential election, I note that the S Times ran piece on a change taking place on the 6th May 2017.

From that date the French police will be able to access DVLA details of UK drivers who commit offences on their roads. Its estimated up to half a million people will be having their collars felt by the gendarmes.

They are also outsourcing speed trap enforcement, meaning they believe they will multiply by 10 the number of tickets issued. Finally a new state of the art detection system will be used to catch those committing multiple concurrent offences.
