HPEs seem to be the new London buss. You wait forever for one then three turn up at once. Yesterday and today three have been listed on e-bay, all silver, one a restoration project, one a renovation project and one in perfect condition.

I ran an HPE 2000ie for 4 years, huge fun, very practical and not that difficult to maintain. If anyone is thinking about one I would say, from my experience, go for it!!!

In about the early 90's I think my then brother-in-law had an HPE on his drive that he had acquired somehow and wanted to sell on. I think it was dark blue and I do remember it was an ex-Rob Walker car, as in Rob Walker had owned it, not just sold it. His marriage then split up so I have no idea what happened after that. Does anybody in the club now own it? My brother-in-law had it down at his house in Bournemouth at the time.

>:(I see the Kettering one sold. I went to look at the top notch one in Bradford, now not showing on eBay completed list, and it was a peach. Took the plunge and bought it. Trailered down to me on Thursday. Just as well I didn't drive it back as the petrol cap wouldn't open and I'd have been stuck somewhere on the A1. Turns out it was on the NEC Lancia stand at the Classic Car Show back in Nov 2015. Pictures to follow. It belonged to Jon Rickett. If Jon is on the forum, or anyone knows him, would it be possible to find out a bit more about it? There are a number of invoices to Jon during his ownership, and it would be useful to know if the cambelts were changed. After an hour fiddling this morning, to my relief, the petrol cap came off.
I became utterly disillusioned with a Jaguar XF Estate I'd bought from Marshalls for over £30k, when I had all sorts of problems which they "couldn't find", only to be told after the warranty expired that all these jobs needed doing....the ones I told them about. A very long story but in the end I sold it to WeWantAnyCar for what I considered a very good price, bearing in mind the repair bills for Stop/start module, aircon etc would have come to over £2k. I vowed never again to spend that sort of money and lose £15k over 3 years.
So the HPE is going to replace the Coupe that I've had for a few years, which I'll now put on eBay, after a golfing break with a few pals. I'm a retired musician and the HPE is great for chucking in the golf clubs or guitars and amps when I occasionally get back on the road. Looking forward to many years of happiness with this car. It's my third HPE and I can't believe I stupidly sold the last one several years ago. Hopefully I'll be at the AGM with it, if I can persuade my wife to get in it. She doesn't understand you know!!
Regards Derek Moore
