Hello,

Sorry for all the electric related questions lately.
As I understand it the wiper motor is a pain to remove once the dash is installed, so I want to make sure it functions correctly on the bench first.

According to the wiring diagram there should simply be two wires going to the wiper motor, but on my motor there is a third connector marked "S"
What does this one do?

I have connected the motor to a battery (on + and - ) and the motor moves for a short moment (I would think the arm is not in the correct position or something like that).
If I connect the battery between + and "S" there seems to be a relay of sorts that kicks in.

The wiper motor  has an electrically operated mechanical  brake in it so that it (should!) return to rest in the correct position when switched off. I have seen a few motors where the brake has failed.
And lhd and rhd wiper motors are different in terms of the 'resting off' position..
I am in the UK at the moment for a cou-ple of weeks so I don't have my wiring notes with me but from memory, the 3 connections are as follows:
- is an earth
+ is permanently live when ignition is on ( this allows the motor to come to rest in the correct position when the power is 'S' is disconnected
S goes to the switch switching power on and off using the dashboard switch.

I will try to email you a photo of an appropriate wiring diagram later Torstein.

Here is the wiring diagram image I sent Torstein....taken from one of Paul Mayo's excellent Aurelia manuals.
#31 is the wiper motor and #30 is the wiper switch.
Its easy to bench test the motor to check before fitting that it all works properly . They are a devil to remove once the dashboard is all in place.
It now sounds like Torstein has a problem with his motor - if so I almost certainly have a working spare available.

Thanks again Chris!

The motor is definitely faulty, so a working spare sound great!
I´m also in need of one of the wiper boxes, as one of the ones I have seem to jam/stick when the arm is at its extremes.

I will come back to you on the wiper motor and wiper arm gearbox in a couple of weeks Torstein if I may. Can you let me know the length of the output shaft on your faulty gearbox please sometime as I have various sizes I remember.
