I can't answer your question Tim but when I was in Lausanne buying our B20 S1 in 1994 I think, the workshop our car was in had an 037 Stradale in excellent order for sale for what was equivalent to £15k! Didn't have the money so the opportunity passed by. Chris

Another info from Switzerland:
When I bought a new Lancia Delta 1500 in 1983 at Auto Sudan in Zug, they had in their showroom a new 037 Stradale, red of course, for sale for 35.000 CHF. Problem was that the car was not complying with the new applicable regulations, especially exhaust without catalytic converter, so could not be road registered in Switzerland. Only way to run it in Switzerland was on trade plates (still is the case today).
If I remember well, the Delta price at the time was 11.000 CHF.
Maybe you can find a currency converter CHF/GBP for 1983, then you would have an idea of UK price range. Or use UK Delta 1500 price of 1983, multiplied by the price ratio 3.5/1.1

Thanks Chris and Chris (librarian) and Seb.
Seems 43,500,000 lira at 1l=0.000435 = c£18,000 in 1982/83.
I wish I had the money too.

Using the Bank of England inflation calculator the 18K is now 58K, the 30K would now be 97K.

The 037 was launched in '83, the Delta S4 in '85-'86 and was £55k, so I can't see there being a huge difference at the time, maybe late 20s for an 037. They were however around 30-40k for years.. :-( ten times that now almost.

Well I found this on the Net http://www.lanciarally037.com/e-stradaleprova.htmand Chris Hopkins found something in a Lancia book of similar value (except a 0 was missing)..... Seems an even better investment...

That would be a great price if you could buy a new 037 now. Brian 8227

So an 037 would have been fifty something, the S4 in today's money is one fifty something.
The new Alpine is just over 50K, a V10 Audi perhaps S4 money.

In my bible of 80's cars 'World Cars 1984' the Lancia Rally pushed out 205hp at 7000rpm and struggled along with 167lb ft of torque at 5000rpm, max engine revs were 7600rpm. This in a car that weighed 1170kg and all for only 47,508,000 lira they quote a Gamma coupe as £12,200 or 34,141,000 lira Clarkey
