An Aurelia engine (number 1269) was sold as part of a lot with 2 Flavia engines and some Aurelia wheels which went for 21k plus premium and tax on the whole lot. This was the engine that I was advised by an Italian friend was the original to the car sold for 300k Euros. And you guesssed it, the buyer of the Aurelia bought the engine lot. Speaking to another friend who bid up to a certain point on the Aurelia, apparently the auctioneers had the full history of the car (including the 5 period Mille Miglia entires) but were only giving that information out to certain people...
This certainly seems to be an auction that the dealers have got a lot of inside knowledge about hence the high prices and bemusement of us mere mortals. Agree with Ade re the Fulvia engines - from the state of them I was astonished by the price but if they complete the package of a car then it's understandable.
Not for this forum but what is utterly astonishing our German friends is the prices on the very standard and rough Porsches and very high prices paid for spare parts. I'm sure there's a story there somewhere...

Did anyone look at the Flaminia Berlina? I would be interested in putting the price achieved into the context of its' condition.

The Berlina was not in great condition and on speaking to an Italian friend he felt the estimate was more in line with its worth. In fact many "locals" are very bemused about what's going on here...

When I looked at the image of the Flaminia Berlina on a large screen it looked feathery round the edges to me.
Also there are always nice examples for sale in Italy at what I think are reasonable prices.

Fellow Lancisti, just much would you pay for this, in the real world? And a few more to mull over?!
http://www.rmsothebys.com/tv16/duemila-ruote/lots/1956-lancia-aurelia-b20s-series-5/1087234
€72,800 plus fees/VAT takes it up to?
The Flaminia 3c Touring appears to be a bit more realistic at €30K
http://www.rmsothebys.com/tv16/duemila-ruote/lots/1962-lancia-flaminia-gt-25-3c-touring/1087225
As for the black 1951 B20, given the comments on here plus lack of info on their site, did the catalogue give any clue to its real provenance?
http://www.rmsothebys.com/tv16/duemila-ruote/lots/1951-lancia-aurelia-b20/1087182
If again previous posts are correct, relating the engine to the '51 B20, then this lot made a bit of sense.

As for the 1968 Lancia Fulvia Sport 1,3 Competizione Zagato, was this another record breaking price?
http://www.rmsothebys.com/tv16/duemila-ruote/lots/1968-lancia-fulvia-sport-13-competizione-zagato/1087187
1961 Lancia Flaminia Sport 2.5 Zagato, another high at €291,000 plus ?

Don't forget the Ardea @ €30k + fees.
Interesting psychology on the part of the auctioneers I reckon to give very low estimates to get attendees which proved to be very successful.
Of course at a normal auction you couldn't do this as the vendors wouldn't be prepared to have such low estimates and no reserves.

Regarding the black 1st series B20 with apparent Mille Miglia history which sold for €336,000, according to the auctioneers the chassis number was B20-1246 and the engine number was 2207. This is the incorrect engine for the car as was pointed out earlier in this thread.
In another post on this thread about a later Lot 690 which included a 1st series B20 engine no B20-1269 which sold for €24,570, it was said by the new owners that this engine was the original one for the black car B20-1246 which they had earlier bought.
This is not true.
According to factory records, engine no B20-1269 was originally fitted to car B20-1274.
