Bleeding success !

Chaps,

Went into the garage today to have another go at bleeding the brakes.

First I went to look for the compensator under the pedals as Martin had suggested but no joy, so I had a look under the rear, and there it was on the rear axle just like a Fulvia/2000 !

I dropped the car onto it`s wheels, had another go and success ! Lots of fluid out of both rear calipers and now a good solid pedal.

Don`t you just love the inconsistency of old Lancias !

Anyway, all is well brake-wise.

Excellent Bob, well done ..... we all like a success story. They just don't occur as often as we would like. Even when they do they are usually preceded by one or more failure stories!!!!

Watch on the forum for further events in the tales of Appia knocking noises!!!! Success or failure?? Only time will tell!!!

Good work. What year was your car built to try and get a crossover point on brake balance valve??

Parts book just makes the comment that part 2254569 on Tav37A (limiting device) is for "cars equipped  with the limiting device"!!!!!

Well that`s not a lot of help is it ?

I guess it`s just the usual Lancia way, if they had them they fitted them, and if they didn`t have them they didn`t bother.
Either way, I now have brakes !

Only problem is, whilst under the car I noticed a tiny damp patch on the bottom of the fuel tank, so it looks as though sourcing a replacement tank is going to be my next job. At least changing a tank is a relatively easy job.

I could not find a new tank for my Vignale, so had the top cut off, the tank blasted rewelded and then sealed with the Frost system. It hold fuel now.

iIwill take another look this weekend and go from there, but just in case, where did you have that done and how much was it ?
