Seen on e-bay today.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Lancia-beta-volumex-engine-supercharged-/112004989141?hash=item1a140480d5:g:dOMAAOSwF0NXLkzQ

£200 for a stripped Volumex engine without it's supercharger. Given how rare Beta Volumex are it saddens me that people are still splitting them up. However the pre-war MG community highly value them. There is a business that rebuilds Volumex superchargers with newly cast end plates bearing the MG logo.

I wonder how many VXs would still be around today if the engines/superchargers were not in such demand? I suspect quite a few perfectly sound cars have been scrapped just for the blowers.

As a matter of interest, what sort of money do you think a good engine, complete with supercharger, can fetch these days? The eBay listing ended with no bids....and is currently re-listed at £100 start....still with no bids!

I have a feeling that the superchargers sell for about £500 but I'm not sure where I got that from. I suspect an engine with a supercharger attached might be a couple of hundred more.

However this is where they are ending up. http://www.vintagemgparts.com/parts_catalogue.html

It seems a bit sad but at least you know where to go to get your supercharger rebuilt.
