I have a gearbox oil leak from the seal on top of the gearbox where the selector rods enter the gearbox (under the dust cover) .  Perceived wisdom (which I acknowledge)  is that the gearbox needs to be stripped down to replace the seal.  Does anyone know of another solution if only to stem/reduce the oil loss?
The oil loss isn't massive and levels are checked and topped up when checking the engine oil.
