Thank you for this. Our road is on the Southend Council gritting route so I get  a warning with the amber flashing lights zipping past the windows.

Alan Wesson, a year or two ago, wrote a very interesting piece on the Forum describing how to recognise when salt is present on the highway. Worth a read, I will try to find it.

I'm signed up for alerts by Central Bedfordshire Council, amongst these notifications is when the gritters will be out and the times.
