No not that sort, but it made you look !

Recently I came across a long defunct Lancia Garage in the Nth of France and bought a number of bits and bobs including the sign and a load of workshop manuals from the late 60's and very early 70's - mainly Flavias and Fulvias but also the very first Betas.

In amongst all of this were a great number of workshop updates and marketing support materials, price lists, commission levels etc etc, totaling 1000's of pages ! This all came from Lancia Italy, was translated by Lancia France and then disseminated to the concessionaires.

It is fascinating !

Unfortunately there are no brochures or posters left, but hey ho !

The idea behind this post is to give a flavour of the material I found, plus:

see whether it is of interest ?
has it been seen before ?
is it legal to reproduce ?
how best to conserve it ?
how best to share it ?

This is a rough translation from the French (my French is not perfect so linguists, please excuse the errors !!)

Subject: Flavia Berline 819 - fitted with alternator

You may notice under certain conditions, and especially whilst driving at night, a slight glowing of the alternator charge light.

This slight glow is not, as one may think, a charging fault. In order to avoid this inconvenience, we advise you to replace the 3w dash warning bulb with a 4w bulb

Interesting document probably would apply to Fulvias with the glowing warning light.

Interesting in that I had the voltage regulator replaced on my 2000HF Coupe (the old regulator was pumping out too much voltage and frying the battery) and since the replacement the alternator light glows especially whilst driving at night and when indicating and definitely if the heated rear windscreen is on. I was wondering if I had the correct replacement regulator (possibly a Fulvia unit) and it was underperforming. Perhaps this update applies to the 2000HF too?

Justin, did you fit a new solid state type regulator or traditional (larger) mechanical type?  Mine glows with both, my last regulator failed and was pumping out 16v briefly, which makes for bright headlamps on country roads at night.

Hi Neil - fitted the traditional mechanical type regulator. The previous regulator was frying the battery - it came to a head after the Goodwood track day a couple of years ago when travelling home the car was engulfed in a pungent egg-like odour caused by the overvoltage to the battery and the resultant boiling of the battery acid!
My car has not been starting as well as usual recently (could be the cold, damp etc) so I have taken to using a trickle charger which gives the battery more oomph and starting is now ok. This led me to suspect that the battery (which is new) is not being charged sufficiently.
