Bianco Saratoga Paint Code
« on: 27 October, 2015, 01:15:39 PM »
I have another question that I would appreciate help with.

My 1973 Series 2 Coupe colour is Bianco Saratoga.  I'm looking for a small quantity of pain to touch up some small badly matched patches on the car, pending a probable respray after I've finished the mechanical work that I've embarked on.

The Chipex website lists two colour codes for Bianco saratoga:  110 and 182.  It shows the same date range for both codes: 1965 to 1975.  Can anybody advise on which is the right code for a 1973 Series 2 Coupe?

That's great feedback, thanks, and will be very useful when I have the car resprayed.  But the Chipex website only shows the two codes: 110 and 182, and I'm trying to find out which of these applies to the 1973 Series 2 Coupe.

These are lancia codes. The lechler and mm codes do not change from first series to second series. Beware it is unlikely you will get a match anyway with aged paint and modern formulations.

So is there no difference between 110 and 182?

Sounds like these are Chipex's own codes. If so you will need to give them the Lancia codes and get them to say which is compatible, if any.

Sorry guys for being so dense but I thought that the 110 and 182 were Lancia codes!

So, is MM 1.306.1435 the Lancia code for Bianco Saratoga on a 1973 Series 2 Coupe?  Elsewhere on the forum I've also seen a reference to MM 1.346.1435.

It sounds like you have found more than the small quantity of "pain" you were looking for!

A local paint factor might be able to help, we use one in Letchworth, Herts but there must be someone local to you. The advantage is you may be able to take in a paint sample or get a small quantity made up to check the match before you commit yourself to a more substantial purchase. The research will also stand you in good stead for the later re-spray.

There are 2 different mm codes. Mm - maxmeyer used by Lancia extensively as they were the "best value for money" paint supplier , now part of PPG. Lechler codes stayed the same so one may assume the mm codes were mirroring the Laincia change of code. Frank offers good advice which is to find a local car paint supplier. They can mix just like chipex but can give advice as well as small samples. Unless you find a ppg supplier then each manufacturer (ie ICI) will have their own mix codes. Best to spray a test panel.
