Hi there guys, having a weird problem with my flavia 2000i kugelfischer. The other day my indicators stopped working and discovered the fuse has blown (aha!), however upon installing a new fuse the new one blew again instantly. I have also noticed that it only ever blows when i use the right signal, i can leave the left signal on for a whole minute and nothing but whenever i put the right hand signal on, the fuse blows again within seconds.

Anyone experienced anything similar?

Thanks

Rob

Damaged insulation on a wire allowing it to make contact with the bodywork perhaps?

That would be the usual conclusion, the trick is to come up with a test routine to check it. Might it be a job for an auto-electrician? It might cost you a fuse but have you tried seeing if the hazard flashers produce the same problem? If not, that could narrow down the problem.

Have taken the indicator stalk housing off and discovered a bare wire (cheers for the tip). Fixed this using some insulation tape.
Also ended up resoldering the connections as they looked very fragile. Following this, I put another 16A fuse in (which was previously in the car) and iit went and blew again! Have ended up putting a 25A fuse in and it's been fine since (have tested it thoroughly).. Think there was just the wrong fuse in the car after all?

Glad you have indicators again. It would be worth checking the handbook to confirm the circuit should have the higher rated fuse otherwise you might end up with some over heated wiring which could lead to much more expensive trouble!

I agree, i am going to get it looked at when i get a chance and see if there is another underlying problem somewhere. Shall not be using the car until then! Thanks for the heads up.
