I agree, good looking stand particularly given the less than prime location and shape, and good mix of cars.

Well done everyone: the usual hard workers who quietly get on and organise things with little recognition.

Nice to meet a few new faces too.

Martin.

I'd been to the NEC show a couple of years ago but only as a member of the public. The stand on that occasion was more central and seemed more spacious, plus we'd a greater "breadth" of models on display from an era perspective.

This time we were allocated a stand in the "appendix" hall (No 5) of the show, ie almost at the furthest and hardest to get to part of the NEC, this had a few plus points but more negatives I think personally.

From a positive perspective, on the Saturday I attended, the public who made it our way noted that they could get closer to the cars, much less crowded generally and there were members on the stand to engage with and answer questions. This meant they could take photos, have a friendly chat and enjoy the cars on a personal/intimate basis. Therefore their individual experiences were much more rewarding and was what to me, a Classic Car Show is all about.

From a less positive perspective, we were 30 odd metres from the Wheeler Dealer stand, plus in a hall which was labelled Motorcycles and on entering you were met with a stand of tractors! So apart from enthusiasts, previous owners and those who'd belonged to the LMC previously, I interacted with very few people who sought out our stand specifically or on merely passing, the cars caught their interest. Having said that we all handed out a number of membership forms etc to recruit new members or welcome back previous members. As Steve explained to me the main reason why his fabulous Integrale attracted so much attention from the younger people was due to its appearance in some game or other, but it stood out certainly and was a wonderful example. The two Zagato models attracted less attention and sadly the B20 wasn't as fawned over as it should have been.

I thoroughly enjoyed my day, the 10 odd hours passed very quickly, it was a delight to meet quite a few members including Simon, Steve, Chris, Peter on the stand plus Don, Roger and son-in-law, Tony, Martin and Frank.

I know there is a post show debate and feedback, interested to hear what else is being said.

I will also post up a separate thread with a few queries raised by members of the public for the forums help.

Photos to follow.......I make NO apology....repeat, NO apology for fuzziness, colour shift or being poorly composed!!!!

Thank you for the photos.  I'd have loved to be there but "duty called".  One of which was dropping my eldest son off for a mock trial competition at Maidstone Crown Court.  Someone in a shop asked me why I was up and about so early, I explained I'd dropped him at court for a competition and got back "keep telling yourself that fella". We agreed best not to ask for too much detail.

I'm not sure I've ever seen a Fulvia and Flavia Zagato next to each other.  The Flavia doens't seem so much bigger.  I'm hungry for more photos...anyone got photos of a similar pair elsewhere?

I think someone noted it was built on a shortened berlina/coupe wheelbase, hence its length being similar to the Fulvia

In October's Viva Lancia, issue 567, there is the excellent article on the Flavia and the boxer engine. In that article it is stated that the Pininfarina coupe was built on a wheelbase 17cms shorter than that of the Berlina .... 'the same specification was later used for the Fulvia'.

So the Pininfarina coupe and the Fulvia shared the same wheelbase, but I am not certain about the Zagato, or indeed the Vignale.

I will dig a little deeper .....

Miracles do still happen ...... I have dug deeper and on turning the first sod all was revealed ........ in other words I found my Flavia Instruction Book immediately, it was where it was supposed to be!!!!

OK, Flavia Berlina wheelbase 2650mm. Pininfarina, Zagato and Vignale coupes all share the same wheelbase, 2480mm. Now, I have to admit that I cannot verify the Fulvia wheelbase, but the 17cms is the correct reduction in wheelbase.

So, please will someone provide the wheelbase dimensions for the Fulvia, both Berlina and coupe.

The Fulvia Sport is a tad longer than the Fulvia Coupe (4.14 v 3.935m). Wheel base the same for both at 2.33m.

Here are some more NEC pictures of an Aurelia on another stand. I thought it was Midland Motor Club but someone else thought it was an insurance company.
