Slow but rough

Hi all
just taking a breather from the marking (Roman Britain: Life in the outpost of the Empire) As Appia Spares Consortium Manager I need some advice on front axles. Will a series 2/3 axle fit a series 1 car? or are all the castor angles etc different. Also could a series 1 axle be refurbed with parts from a series 2/3 axle. I know the brake backplates swap over OK as my car has series 3 brakes on the front. Any advice most gratefully taken on board. A consortium member needs a complete front axle

ps I think Hartlepool qualifies to be life in an outpost of the Empire!

Don is the obvious choice for advice on the axles, otherwise cross check parts books for both series - do you have both ?

Time team have done loads of Roman stuff near you, so definitely a Northern Outpost, even today ....

Update
Whilst rummaging through our collection of front axles came across one with a serial number only 4 away from the one on my car so I think we have a match.. Hmmm..... how to get it to Vienna...my youngest is up for it so we might have a road trip to Vienna and possibly as far as Italy over the summer

Hmmm.... talked to Don and he advises the axle will fit OK...thing is the brakes are later twin cylinder ones just like my car...so the axle on my car is a) modified or b) non original.... discuss. My car has had a wallop on the front end judging by the state of the bumper..damaged the axle as well...
