Have got boot open, took back seat out, cut away bracing, can reweld later and squirmed in and managed to release it. Still have issue with barrel not springing out, mechanism cannot be slipped out due to framing, any ideas why barrel will not release? Turns with key and key releases ok.
Also, about to reassemble drivers door lock, over 10 years ago had to dismantle it to get a replacement key made, now am not sure how it all goes together again, should have done sketch or taken photos. Manual not much help, any suggestions welcome.
Motto, as well as swear box, have old digital camera in garage!

The locks might be different on an S1 Sport, but the lock on the spare wheel hatch on my Sport did not pop out - it just turned through ninety degrees to release it.

Have got it out and working, albeit a bit sticky, had to cut out backing piece, not structural, to remove lock to get at retaining nut for push button. Will tack it back later. Annoying thing is the car did not need any welding!, just needing loads of storage issues sorted.
Now trying to reassemble drivers door lock, key not fully turning, it works on passenger door ok so must be some of my reassembly, back to swear box after a coffee!
