I'm looking to uprate the front roll bar on my Fulvia 3 and have been advised a unit from the Flavia will fit the bill.  If anybody has one they are willing to part with please drop me a line on bob@adventureride.co.uk
Thanks.

This is the final mod I'd like to do on mine too. Obviously priority goes to Rob but if there's two out there somewhere.................

No great panic - it's been on my 'to do' list for about 20 years.

Maybe we should persaude Omicron to make a batch as I bought one from them some 11 years ago for my HF but when I wanted one for my Sport they had none left. Still looking so that is at least 3 required....

I have just started stripping my Sport ( ex-Peter Pompilli ) and compiling parts with a view to complete restoration.

So make that 4.

Right

I had a word with Martin Cliffe while at Goodwood last Saturday and he is willing to have another batch made.

His request was how thick as they made both 18mm and 19mm bars. As it is a 4th power rule, the 18mm is about 1.6 times stiffer than standard (16mm) and the 19mm is twice as stiff.

They fitted the 19mm to their racer, I fitted a 19mm (from their last batch 10 years ago) to my HF (the one that went on the Knights Rally - Stan). I have to say I am not unhappy with the stiffness this bar offers but it is a compromise for road use although I accept how I have set my HF up to treat a road as a track (but to take it easy when the road becomes a dirt track!!). Martin did advise not changing this on the basis the original engineering was quite well thought out, if a car is going to be more focussed this can be varied.

My vote would be for a batch of 19mm. Please let me know what you think. Obviously the rubber trunnions and bushes would need to be changed....

Thanks Tim - I have some questions -

1. Is the 19mm overly harsh on the road? I mean it doesn't knock your fillings out?

2. What did you mean by 'Martin did advise changing this on the basis the original engineering was quite well thought out'? Changing what to what?

2. Any rough idea on price? 'Omicron' and 'special batch' has me slightly worried!

An alternative supplier perhaps?   I like their adjustment method:

Another type of adjustable swivels the arm like this one which means you can have an adjustment from the cockpit:

A nice pic of how the "twist the blade" type works.  Thing of a plastic ruler - easy to bend when its "flat", next to impossible when "upright".

Thanks Tim - I have some questions -

1. Is the 19mm overly harsh on the road? I mean it doesn't knock your fillings out?  NO and NO

2. What did you mean by 'Martin did advise changing this on the basis the original engineering was quite well thought out'? Changing what to what? Martin advised NOT - amended my post....

2. Any rough idea on price? 'Omicron' and 'special batch' has me slightly worried! Spoken with Martin sub £100. You can re use your worn bushes to save money or buy new 16mm and make fit for a few more quid.

See my answers above - please let me know so we can get this underway. Tim

Will this make your Fulvia a little less Leggera??

That's true! Perhaps 'allegerito' is the right word. I'll have to start drilling some holes to make up for it.
