« on: 25 March, 2015, 09:31:57 AM »

Hi ,I've been away for a while recently . My 2003 Ypsilon has developed a problem with the engine managment light staying on , the dash also reads on start up, "Engine failure " now there is no problem with the car and efforts  locally have thrown up suggestions that when jump starting the car it can corrupt the brain and making it think its in trouble . Its very annoying and even the local Fiat specialist cant re-set the brain. Can nay body help or is there a code foe er-setting it. Thanks David.

If your car is 2003 it should be OBD2 compliant and have a port you can plug a diagnostic tool like this into. The plug sockets are usually by the fusebox near the steering wheel.

Just got one for my Alfa 159 Q4 and it's been invaluable at diagnosing fault codes and also allows you to read stored codes and erase them once you've sorted the issue.

Dave,
Surprised Fiat are saying the can't reset it, what do they do on a Punto? as effectively it's the same, I have a Punto Manual that covers a lot of items and systems that were common to the Punto Sporting and my elefantino Rosso.
