Mike Wheeler has this photograph of his Lambda TW 8686. Does anyone recognise the man in it and/or the location? A date would be good too.

Robin.

I have a copy of a "drawing" certainly taken from a photograph, as it's my car on the left. Question is, who was really driving PX, which is probably the Lambda owned by Bill Body during the war. He had PX 4213 and wrote about it in Motor Sport, but did he ever race it? Can anyone shed any light on the mystery?
Regards, John

Registration ending 7198. Is this car still around?

It isn't in the Lambda World Register list of British owned Lambdas - or in the LMC.

It's still registered with DVLA as a 1927 2370cc Lancia in green, taxed until August 2018.

This post is starting to get confusing as several different Lambdas are being talked about.
Mike C, Which one are you saying is still around?

Back to the original post about Lambda TW 8686, I think the photograph was taken at the location in this photograph:-
https://www.i-bidder.com/en-gb/auction-catalogues/richard-edmonds-auctions/catalogue-id-ibri10039/lot-27e4ac77-a0db-4b53-9e46-a72400fe3edf

The picture is of a different car, but I am sure Lambda owners will know who it belonged to before it went to auction in 2017, and can therefore tell us where the original picture of TW8686 was taken.

I thought the same thing about the location - see photos, but I don't know where it is either! Neither can I recall how I acquired these images! Might the man in the photo be a young John Nicholson?

You may know this already, but the 1985 issue of the LMC register of members and their cars, shows TW 8686 as then owned by H R T Edsor of Reigate. Later issues may refer to later owners.

With reference to the original B&W photo at the start of this thread, this news report should answer most of the questions.

And also look at this previous thread on the Forum...

Wow! Thanks for posting your last message, Ade. And thanks to the late John Turner for that lovely story as told on this forum in 2010.

Colin, I thought you would like John Turner's post.
Richard, the Wiltshire Times article was dated 31-1-2017, so I expect the TV programme was aired last year.
