Signori,

I'm looking for a 2000 coupe (preferably HF) in reasonable/good condition. Despite having had Lancias ranging from Aprilias to Beta Coupes (with just about everything in between including a Flavia Zagato and a 2000 Berlina) it's the one car I've always been on the lookout for - but never managed to find at a time when I had the money to buy one...

I worked on quite a few when I used to do weekends at Harry Manning's (in between making the tea), and they seem to combine a fair degree of Lancia lunacy with an unusual level of practicality. Even better, they only have a low level of Fiat virus infection.

I don't really want a basket case (I already have a Fulvia HF in IKEA flatpack form in the garage) but am happy to take on quite a bit of work if needed.

Do you have one for sale, or know someone who might be prepared to part with one?

Thanks - Hugh

Hugh, I believe that there is a black 2000hf still for sale in Suffolk. Not the best example but perhaps worth you having a look. Paint has some rough patches, it had a poor respray some years ago. I looked at it a year or so back but chose to buy another HF which has been wonderful and reliable fun.
Maybe contact Colin Clamp at the Flavia 2000 Consortium as he usually knows if any Flavia/HF Coupes are available.
My own experience of the HF, having previously owned Fulvias, is that it has as much character as the Fulvia, attracts many more admiring comments and looks, and is a wonderful GT.

Happy hunting!

Thanks Justin - getting in touch with Colin is a good idea - I should have thought of it! Hugh

Hugh,

Justin is quite correct in saying that that black one is maybe not the one to go for, if it is still around that is.

I went to see it 3/4 years ago when it was for sale in Cambridge, and I took along my trusty magnet which unfortunately failed to stick to an awful lot of lower panel areas due to extensive amounts of filler, which in the sellers defence, he seemed genuinely not to know about, but none the less exposed extensive use of filler to make the car look better than it was.

In addition, the seats had been re-trimmed, but not correctly, as one can see from the photos.

So just be patient, and consider looking for a rust free car in Italy, which is where i found my car after 2 years of searching over here, and have never regretted it, for a moment as I now have the Flavia that I intend to keep for ever, after having had and sold so many over the last 30 years.

Bob - thanks for the advice. These cars in sound condition seem to be very thin on the ground. I can live with LHD as I have had several Flaminias.. Hugh

Hugh,

If you look on the carandclassic.com site there is a 1 owner from new RHD 2000HF coupe being advertised today. 1973/74 'M' reg York Red at a garage in Sussex at £14,995. It's a vague advert with no internal shots (no head rests from the outside can be seen), no idea of mileage or history & pictures not the best, but could be a good car and still has the original 3 tier UK side stripes.

It is a shame that the photos of the RHD 2000HF coupe are a bit vague - and no interior or engine bay photos.   From it's overall look I suspect it may not have been used very frequently in recent times. Worth checking out though - could be a find!

The HF i.e. PPO10M was last on the road in 1994 so will need a certain amount of recommissioning no doubt. Still could be a good car depending on how it has been stored but the price appears to be about right for a good roadworthy car - not a potential project.

I notice that the 3 side stripes don't extend to the rear wings which would suggest work has been done to the wings at some stage.
