Good to see you in Bicester on Sunday Brian - a reasonable Fulvia turnout with your berlina and two coupes. Alas my Flaminia was the only other Lancia I spotted.

My son found his 'drive':

Superb - is that a RE8?

Strange coincidence! Does make a nice contrast though.

Fond memories as a kid of my Airfix 'Dogfight Double' - a RE8 and a Roland CIII in the same box.

Good to see you in Bicester on Sunday Brian - a reasonable Fulvia turnout with your berlina and two coupes. Alas my Flaminia was the only other Lancia I spotted.

My son found his 'drive':

Hi Dave,
Nice to see you too but I didn't find your Flaminia! also spotted Flavia 2000 Berlina, A Beta Spider but it's not registered with the LMC, I was told there was also an Aurelia, but I didn't spot that either during my two complete laps around the various buildings and parking places, must admit I didn't get out to the aeroplanes or the cars out there.
My car of the day was the achingly beautiful Bristol Teardrop, followed by the one off imp powered 3 wheeler, spoke to the owners wife, he was some sort of design engineer and it was his retirement project, workmanship was amazing, as it was only a tiny windscreen he'd made the wiper operate vertically rather than side to side, the canopy was electrically opened and closed, and it hadn't been built with speed in mind, more for touring, the fuel consumption while cruising was heading towards 100mpg, they had also been down to the South of France with it travelling over the Pyrenees, it had also been to Germany as well as a number of other places on the Continent.
Here are my photos, mostly not Lancia as there was only the handful mentioned, but it was a fantastic event.

I'm running out of superlatives but this Bristol Teardrop is probably my most desirable car ever, besides which I love it in this colour Kiss Kiss (that is of course except for one of everything in Lancia) Grin

Some lovely stuff there Brian. The Bristol is beautiful - I'd never have guessed it was a Bristol. Usually these teardrops are Delage etc. I love that whole look, like the Bugatti Atalantic etc.  I also noticed the BMW 3.0 CSL. Always fancied one of those when they were 'cheap' but always read about head gasket problems with them so that put me off. The Vauxhall Viva was a shock - I literally can't remember that last time I saw one of those.

I can't stop thinking about the Bristol it was so lovely, Back in the 1950's I remember seeing a Bugatti Atlantic coming from London Colney around St Albans in the direction of Watford, quite a surprise.
Ha Viva's, I started at Vauxhall Motors in 1963 a couple of months before the model was announced, it nearly didn't make it as we had a massive fire in the trim shop! a quite nice one is up at Brightwell's Auction, ( I think this week) without reserve as part of the sell off of the Stondon Motor Museum Collection.
Only problem with Bicester was getting in and parking, it was very slow getting in and I believe some had to wait on the main road, this was due to the number of cars, and very slow in finding them somewhere to park amongst all the buildings as cars were scattered everywhere, something they need to sort out for next time.

The rear lights on the Bristol look like they've been sourced from a Porsche 356.

I can't help thinking that Drive-it-Day has lost the plot. It was instigated to encourage classic car owners to get their cars out and drive them, and be seen by the general public, on the open roads; now it's being used as an excuse to hold events off the public highway, just like every other weekend through the summer.
I took my Appia out, and did nearly 100 miles without seeing another classic car; presumably everyone locally was holed-up in a field somewhere...

Oh, and that Bristol is just beautiful; it's based on a Talbot 150S with Figoni & Falaschi coachwork, which is probably my most lusted-after car of all time:
