Clutch was replaced just before I bought the car, also the prop shaft couplings were replaced and
all brakes renewed.
The first problem I had was the wobbly dynamo syndrome, managed to improve it a lot but still  slightly
out of alignment.
The water pump was noisy but a few squirts of grease improved that - a job for the future is to strip it out and
see if I can just replace the bearings.
There is no thermostat in the cooling system but I think this is deliberate to help combat the high summer temperatures,
my Fiat 850 Special  was the same although I have fitted one to that as it will be getting a bit of winter use so a working heater will be nice.

We machine a steel sleeve , from memory 10mm o/d 8mm I/d , ream the original pivot point out straight and press the insert in place , did my s2 last with engine in the car , removed the radiator and there was enough room to work , common fault on appia's and if left wears the alloy pulley's on dynamo and cooling fan , if you want to you can make 2 sleeve's so that the timing chest cover will separate easier , however make sure they are reamed out bolted together so they align correctly
