I was wondering which manufacturer / type of caps were standard fitment on the S1 / S2 series Appias?

There are black ones as well, but I don't know which is correct for early/late cars

Don suggests removing them completely and fitting the leads directly to the plugs and using Fulvia sockets to block the holes.

Having bought one of Don's Appias 8 years ago and used it regularly, I confirm total lack of ignition trouble by avoiding fitting the plug plastic connectors. Andrea

I have a set of black ones in my newly acquired Series 1. Unlike the one posted by Clarkie above, these are screwed in to the cylinder head, rather than pressed in with the o-ring seal:
