Hi all, just joined the club due to finally owning an Evo 1 , been told by previous owner that John Whalley gave it a minor chip upgrade a few years ago and now produces 300bhp, it certainly has a kick when the turbo starts spooling up. Can anyone reccommend a realy good mechanic that is familiar with these cars and that's based in or near Surrey. I want to get the belts/tensioners replaced, any idea where i can get some good quality items. Also need front and rear door cards if anyone has any for sale, not fussed on colour as will be getting them retrimmed.

Did you get this resolved?
2 'local' specialists come to mind
Auto Integrale in Reading (this is where mine goes - I'm based in Guildford)
Day & Whites - Brands Hatch
Not much else closer I reckon. Where in Surrey are you?

I'm based in Guildford as well, have had a chat with Keith at Auto Integrale and will probably get it booked in with him, sounds like a nice honest bloke

Hi everyone, always seems quiet on the grale posts here, finally found the time to book my car in with Keith at AI for an oil service and belts, i'm not totally up to speed with the car yet, but what should be replaced when doing a cam belt change parts wise, the car also has air con and whats the best oil for these engines, i use Fuchs/Titan Race Pro R fully synthetic 15w-50 in one of my other classic turbo charged cars and can see no reason why it couldnt be used in the grale as well, any advice/recommendations would be much appreciated

Am sure Keith can advise best on oil as he must service a few chipped Evos. I heard doing the water pump is wise when changing the belts....

Had some work done on a ford BDT engine last year, the w/pump was fine but as the engine was out we decided to change the the original pump as a precaution mainly due to fact that it's a bugger to get to when engine is in place, long story short, the pattern pump (original part not available any more) started to leak several months later through the weep hole , some pattern parts are simply poor quality and i should have left the original one in place, so i now adopt "if it's not broke dont replace it" will probably ask Keith to check for any rumbling/noisy bearing/play. Can anyone tell me what should be replaced on a full cam belt change, even as a precaution regardless of any wear or not.

Going by the other twin cam Lampredi based engines you need to replace all the bearings, 3 if I remember correctly, Dedra has counterbalance shaft belt as well but I don't think the evos have, while your at it it's worth changing all the belts at the same time rather than have to half do it all again to replace alternator/ water pump/ and power steering belts. it is normal to do the water pump at the same time on evos........... Just had it alll done today, cam belt kit, balance belt, auxillary belt, air-con belt, air-con tensioner, balance belt tensioner, idler bearing and an oil service. Keith from AI mentioned that the cam belt should be changed every 3 years or 20,000 miles, is the water pump supposed to be replaced every 3 years/20,000 miles a pump should last far far longer or is it just that some owners want to replace them regardless of whether there is a problem with it. Decided to drive the car home as it was such a nice day, had a really nice blast down the A4 and M4, had a smile on my face the entire time and just fantastic when the turbo kicks, wish i had bought one far sooner

Hi all, i 've been toying with getting the underside of my grale tidied up, things like getting all the the suspension components and bracketry powder coated, including hub carriers, anti roll bars, diff carrier etc. The bodywork had a complete glass out respray back in 2011 by John Whalley and is still in immaculate condition, the quality of the paintwork is the best i have seen for a long time, real shame that John Whalley retired after the fire. Although it's a straightforward job, I would rather not do the work myself as i dont realy have the time, can anyone recommend a good resto garage that is reliable and provides a good standard of work, in and around the south east area. Here's a photo of my car, not many owners post any pictures of their cars here

If you have a look on the club database http://www.lanciadb.co.uk/ then there are lots of uploaded pictures there of various cars - a gallery if you like. You'll find in the library under onlinepublications ( accessed via the database ) there are some big PDFs containing the car pictures Pictures also go to the website as events happen - just a bit quiet at the moment We do get restoration threads going and these tend to get a lot of the detailed images put there.

Hi
I think you will need to ask Steve for a password from memory, he admins the database and no it is not the same as the forum, separate systems unfortunately.
