Andy, continued from Lancia cars for sale / Re Y10 for sale.

It sounds like someone has tried to make their own parcell shelf. The proper one rests on top of the wiper motor cover so no cut out is needed.

See pictures.

And some more thoughts. The hinge-pin is prone to break off. The pin is round but turns into a square section where it pushes into the parcel shelf. I had to drill out the stub and fit an apropriately sized tube to replace a broken hinge pin. It also has a rubber sleeve over it so it doesn't rattle. The other thing worth mentioning is that the suspension cords are spring loaded so that when you close the tail gate the slack is neatly retracted out of sight.

This is the 3rd attempt to get a reply out!! The first disappeared, the 2nd was refused as the attachments were too large!! So I reduced the attachments to the 2nd draft and sent it again. It said I had already sent it, so I went looking for it!! No, it had not been sent, but now was lost!!! How do you get out of that sort of mess please?

So, abbreviated response, I seem to have the correct parcel shelf, it looks like yours Frank, the strings retract and one or both hinges are broken. Coupled with that there is an embossed Autobianchi shield on the underside. It sits low which explains the cut out to go round the wiper motor ... or could it be it sits low because of the cut out?

Anyway, here are some photos in the order ...

1) top view
2) underside
3) cut out for wiper motor
4) LH hinge
5) RH hinge
6) embossed Autobianchi shield

Andy,
Very frustrating when it says you've already sent it after rejecting the message as file too large, I usually copy the text, bin the old message and start a completely fresh message, using the copied text from the previous one.
The Autobianchi shield figures on most of the Y10 parts as the Y10 was Autobianchi for nearly everywhere else and mainly Lancia for the UK.
I suspect that the cut out for wiper motor (3) is the reason yours parcel shelf doesn't sit correctly.

If it's a large message then I write it out in word and paste it in ... as for the photos - sorry it goes wrong sometimes - I get frustrated too ! - but it's a package that we (the club) use and just have to live with things like this.

Yes Andy. It looks like you do have the correct parcel shelf. The wiper motor housing is supposed to slide under the tailgate when you close the boot. If the shelf gets a bit old and saggy the tailgate bounces off the back of the shelf. It looks like someone has cut away the shelf to try to restore the clearance.

You should be able to remake the hinge pins fairly easily. There is a box section metal tube formed into the front edge of the shelf and the plastic hinge pins push into the ends of it.
