Hi Tim, I seem to remember when I had my HF Turbo years ago, I had a problem with the same sensor,I split mine in two, and used switch cleaner to clean the track inside, I seem to remember there are 4 or 5 small holes around the casing I thought they had small plastic dowels in them, I think you can push them out, and gently go round the edges with a scalpel or blade, a you will be able to split it, when done I used a very small smear of rtv to seal it together, it worked for me, and I think it is used on the Fiat Croma too. Hope it helps

Thanks for this. Did not know if they came apart as it looked like plastic dowels/welds. Good to know.
Am a bit aprehensive of doing this right now as the car is in the south of France being readied for the trip bavk to the Uk next month. It currently runs but has a tendancy to speed up or not idle unexpectedly which I can live with. I am happy to do investigative surgery when back in the UK but would like the back up of another part.
So am still looking.....
