further to the crank shaft oilway plugs I managed to source some stainless steel ones that might come out in about 40 years time if anyone is doing an engine overhaul bit more robust than the aluminium ones we have
does this not change the dynamic balance of the crankshaft?
Yes, it certainly will. Cleaning out the crud that builds up in crankshafts does, too. Usually for the better, as it was probably balanced before the crud arrived. I have been amazed at how much builds up over time.

One way to look at this is assume a base condition that the crank was balanced with an awareness of alum plugs and that the passages are intended filled with oil. Then the SS plugs and crud only impact the balance by their weight (delta) over the base condition. Crud probably not that critical, not sure about the plugs.
