Pics from a book. 1st September 1929, four Lambdas, on the right of the group, Carlo Piazza's no. 57, and the second photo is a Lambda saloon, bodied by Stabilimenti Giovanni Farina and C.

The clue is in the pictures. 12th September 1931, including a Dilambda saloon by Carrozzeria Italiana and Cesare Sala, and another Dilambda tourer (probably bodied by Viotti) The second photo (still from film footage) is from 18th September 1932, an Astura cabriolet royal by Castagna (Marino Bernasconi). The third, also from the same date, is the Dilambda tourer, from Stablimenti Farina, of Carlo Enrico Wild, the vehicle's modelling reveals the cosmopolitan tastes of the freelance designer Mario Revelli de Beaumont

Some more. Still from 1932, one of a trio of Dilambdas by Pinin Farina and the Dilambda saloon of Pietro Bozzalla

These are quite brilliant photographs! Is the car with the number 78 a Lancia? As for the other pictures of single cars I imagine the are all Dilambda, Astura, and possibly Artena. It would be interesting if someone can distinguish which. Cesare

Photo 1 front four all look like Lambdas
Photo 2 Lambda 8th series
Photo 3 Astura
Photo 4 Astura or Dilambda reminiscent of Pinnin Farina Alfa Romeos probably Astura since round headlights
Photo 5 Dilambda
Photo 6 Dilambda
Photo 7 Dilambda
Photo 8 Astura or Dilambda

The Sheild shaped headlights are a give away as only fitted to Dilambda.

Hmmmm, intriguing. Palm trees, Roman statues, colonial looking policeman. Also there appears to be a Torino and Vercelli number plate showing so rules out a far flung place like Eritrea. Never been to Villa d'Este but maybe somewhere like that? Can't quite read that sign either - is it something like Corse 7?

Richard,
When you are in the Library please note the book name, author, publisher and number if there is one, so I can try to obtain a copy for our Library.  Thanks.

No wonder we all went mad for Italian car design. Bonkers!
