Here are some photos of a Fulvia estate created by grafting the rear end of a Citroen GS estate onto a Fulvia Coupe.
They were taken at Holker Hall in Cumbria circa September 1987.

There was a dark blue one parked outside a house in Penmaenmawr (A55 Nth Wales) about the same time, maybe a bit earlier. Much prettier from memory. Never took a photo because I couldn't afford the film .....

Sound like this car still exists, as described by the owner (and converter) to Robin Lacy on the NEC stand last weekend?

As to why, I supposed he liked the car but needed more room (?!). Ultimately he's rendered a valuable car pretty much worthless. He seems happy though!

   Yes it does seem a shame to see a lovely little flat four engine ditched in favour of a strange narrow asymmetric vee installation!!!

out of curiosity I did a vrm check and that car still comes up as a 67 1200 coupe so must be the one, mind you I cant see another 1 being out there  Wink

I think Piero Castagnero might have done it a little differently...........

Having said that, I'm sure I've seen quite a nice looking one in the past - I think the rear part of the coupe roof with the rear quarterlights had been moved to the back. Still had its delicate looks and was quite smart.

I like the idea of a Fulvia HPE.

Anyone got photos of the pickup to hand?  I think it must have been while contemplating buying that one that I doodled estates.  I think I shifted the pillars to the back and had the glass hinge up.

If you go onto Huib's website at viva-lancia.com there is a very nice Fulvia "HPE" on the Fulvia main page.  Looks a tad tidier than the one shown above.

This car belongs to and was converted by my friend Bob Cuppage who now lives in the middle of the Lake District.  He is basically a Citroen man (nice Traction Avant) but also has the Fulvia a DKW 3 cylinder 2stroke with wood and fabric body mid 30s and a mid 30s Sunbeam Talbot.  What with moving house to his ancestral home and updating buildings he has not had much time for cars lately.  I did drive the Fulvia once, some time in the late 70s.   I think he did it to gain room within for children and in those days slightly old cars were not sacred beasts.   I shall be going to see him soon so I shall get an update and a bit more history.

That's where I saw it! So well done it looks like it could be a production model. I'd be quite happy with that if I wanted a Fulvia with extra space. Got me thinking what a standard coupe front would look like grafted onto a Zagato body..........

It looks like the Fulvia estate on the Viva Lancia site is from that well known Italian carrozzeria fotonegozio.
