At the big Classic car show in Padova at the end of October on one of the stands was an Aurelia chassis complete as delivered from Lancia to coachbuilders. It had never had a body fitted to it, and one wonders where it has spent its life. It was sold by Martin Willems from Holland who told that he had had the chassis standing for a while. He seemed not to know its history. It was chassis B53-1076. I have been told that it was sold to an Italian collector within the first hour for 40.000 €. Apparently the new owner has no intention of fitting a body to it.

Most intriguing. Does anyone here have a photo?

My wild guess as to the buyer's identity is... Corrado Lopresto.

I had a chat to Martin on the Sliding Pillar Rally about this chassis and then got a chance to see it when I visited him in September.
It has suffered a little from its 60 years of storage, there is surface rust on most of it and a few items have been taken off over the years. But I am glad that it will not have a body built on it, where else are you going to see a naked Aurelia chassis.

There are some more pictures here without all the clutter around the chassis
