Problem is that the radiator that's been in the car since we've owned it is not the right one, it's too tall and doesn't allow the bonnet to close completely. Reducing the height of it is expensive and a replacement seems like a better option.

Having a new one made from aluminium might be the best answer. I'm having one made for the Kurtis and it isn't expensive. Apart from weighing rather less, they are more efficient at cooling. I have one on the Augusta, which looks like the original and cost less than £300.

At Crystal Palace on their stand they had an aluminium rad painted black for an historic racer.

James at alloy racing fabrications has made many parts for Fulvias from exact replica of the heater matrix to specialist rads and petrol and oil tanks.

He is one of the best ally welders in the UK and is approved to make tanks for aerobatic aircraft like the Pitts special.

Otherwise I have an original s1 rad as a backup for race car.

Local to here is 'Brise Fabrications' at Dartford, who do a good job also.
