The Essex Group (which means loosely Herts and North London due to the location close to Stansted Airport) is holding its Xmas dinner on December 11th at the Chequers pub/restaurant in Matching Green http://thechequersmatchinggreen.co.uk/.

Price per head is expected to be around £25.

Please reply to this post or PM Paul Baker or Tim Heath to confirm places.

Menu will be posted later but will include traditional Xmas fare and other well prepared choices.

Note the 11th has been chosen which is a Tuesday to avoid the cabaret evening that has taken our normal Wednesday slot.

Not specified but 7.30 for 8.00pm can't be too far wrong. Believe I advised Theo 8pm but will try to get there for 7.30 in case of early arrivals.

Apologies for our non-appearance - first accident on A1 out of London before we even got to M25 - then static M25 - then off piste and getting lost in fog round Cuffley/Northaw - finally gave up & went home. Hope those who made it had fun

Neither the traffic nor the weather were very obliging this evening  Undecided  But the Gamma came out of the garage and was pressed into service  Cheesy

The fog was getting thicker by the minute and I heard about the M25 accident and long traffic jam so I left early and used the North Circular to get to the M11 only to find there was another accident on the M11  Sad  Fog was getting even thicker and only saw The Chequers pub when I was just outside  Wink Luckily Tim parked his Gamma right at the front and so attracted my attention  Cheesy I can smell a Gamma in the fog even if I can't see it!  Grin

There was a total of nine for dinner  Cheesy

The food was good and the company was excellent  Cheesy And we were looked after very well by the staff in The Chequers.

And if anyone is wondering how cold it was this evening, here's the Gamma's mirror with icicles after the drive back home!  Shocked

And our Gamma (Rosie) got us back safely too. The new spot lights I fitted turned out to be excellent fog lights...

Just got to get it to run warmer...

Another pic showing a more sober Tim

All,

Sorry we didn't make it last night, crisis at work and we would have been terribly late. Nothing to do with the weather although as it happens that wouldn't have helped.
