This was the subject of a puzzle on the autopuzzle.com site which I rather like. whilst looking for the answer I noticed similar Lancia sports racers of the period were RHD not LHD.best regards richard

You have got to be kidding. Sorry to be harsh but look at:

http://www.alfabb.com/bb/forums/other-italian-cars/198928-lancia-aurelia-prototype.html

where Paolo Giusti called this one right:

"Yes, it's clearly inspired from a period Ferrari 375MM/plus, but.....it has: an aluminium body recently built, a Fiat 1100E chassis (#352058), Lancia badges and a 2.0 liter engine, a Fiat 1500/Osca spider gearbox, the axles and the brakes (improved) from a Fiat 508C, 5 Borrani wheels from a Maserati A6GCS donor and no documents. What a gift!"

Its a one-off fantasy creation, has nothing to do with the factory or their efforts. Pretty enough, maybe even fun, but not historical.

I did think the 'bellhousing' seen between engine and bulkhead was a bit odd looking. The gearlever position looks correct for a LHD B20.
If only someone had simply (simply !!) fitted the body to a standard B20....
