not shown in the current register of owners, but back in 2000 it was owned by a certain Mr Ed Rudler, so it's not surprising the condition it's in.
I'm not up on Aprillia prices but that does sound a bit on the heavy side, although equally also out of my pocket range!

Is that a wireless, heater, or something else above the front passenger's feet?

By the size of it you'd think it had been converted to a Hybrid...  I'm going to have to look at the photos I have of Aprilia interiors and work out how I missed it all these years.

You should just be able to see the battery box in these photos of an early 1st Series car.

...can only be the angle of the photo on ebay that made it jump out...

FLE 851 was most recently owned by Bob Polley, it had its engine rebuilt at Omicron and was then sold by European Classic Cars to the current vendor who has resprayed it green instead of the previous colour, black. The price is top end compared to recent sales lower in the £30K bracket, but in Italy they are often advertised for more.
Here are a couple of photos of it in the nineties and in 2000.

Big do it yourself kit! looks well worth the money, although it says believed to be complete there's no sign of the engine and gearbox Huh?

I had a quick look at it today, there is an engine and gearbox with the car. Most of the interior could be restored and as the body has been stripped, you can see exactly what needs to be done welding wise. The front and rear suspension units look fantastic, they have been totally rebuilt by Omicron.
Chugga would have the body done in no time at all, especially as he has had so much practice! Grin

Beginning to look very....very keenly priced if you're handy with the welder/DIY aspect
