Did you sell OWE to a dutch guy??

It looks track oriented rather than rally prepared...

No it went to Andrew McAlpine.  I don't know if he scrapped the body though!

Dutch plated Fulvia DR-69-91 was advertised for sale in 1999 where it was stated to be a 1965 1st Series Fulvia ('production number 2015') originally from Pisa.

I have a feeling he took the mechanicals (engine, box, steering) from my car and transplanted them into that car.   Shame OWE 250k didnt survive if thats the case but for hard competition use the body was apparently not serviceable any more...

Well the good news is that OWE 250K still exists in the latest car list in the Lancia Motor Club Membership list and the member is not Andrew McAlpine as mentioned in your earlier post! So hopefully OWE 250K is still doing sterling service for someone else and wasn't viciously cannibalised!

I believe that OWE 250k is still down as mine (initials JS) in the LMC register - I have sent in the amended form showing the car that I now own.

I find that hard to believe given the price he must have paid for OWE. Maybe there was money in the plate??!!

I know, but thats what he was planning.  The car as I had it had been a racer for a number of years and the previous owners had stripped it back to bare metal and replaced all filler with new metal.  As such the shell was in my humble opinion, very sound and there was no rust anywhere on it.  However, once the new owner took the paint off I think he wasnt happy with the number of repairs (as opposed to the quality) and so embarked on an extensive rebuild which included the proposed S1 front end swap.  I know he was contemplating binning the shell completely and cannibalising the car for its HF parts and he may well have done that.  A shame, but his perogative I guess.  The plate wasnt that valuable - who knows, he may have kept the shell and the plate and may have other plans for it in the long term but I know time was tight to get the car onto the start line.

Should this interesting thread now have a new title? the Rallye is well underway and competitors are under threat of snow bound roads.

I had an email from Andrew yesterday. The car is a Dutch registered Vere Lancia borrowed 1300 series 1 car.  As Peter says the conditions have been so poor with heavy snow catching all unawares that the organisers are considering wiping the slate clean today and starting things from scratch!   Not sure what happened to OWE!

Sounds like an adventure (of sorts):

"We cut and ran and spent 6 hrs negotiating snow bound autoroute, miles of artics that had been coralled by the Gendarmarie and 3 abreast mobile snowploughs "

Poor Sandro!
