Although I've looked at this Companys site before they are increasing the parts they are having remanufactured, I've just been looking at the redesigned Thermostats that claim to have a higher flow with less restriction, after the troubles I've had with some of the New/Old stock that have no bleed hole this looks like a good idea, the only worrying bit is that everything seems to be that you have to ask for the price, I have enquired so I shall be very interested in the quote!

Just received the quote, I'm afraid I won't be buying one anytime soon even though it is a lovely piece of work, the increase in flow is impressive, but the bleed hole I was referring to was the small one for when the thermostat is closed, not the overall opening.

I also contacted these guys for quotes on Flavia parts and they were asking crazy money!  Shocked

If it's a last resort they might be worth trying, but only for those with deeper pockets than me.

A Lancisti friend in France suggested I query the price as it's not unknown for decimal points to be left out, so I emailed asking would they please verify the price as this equated to about £238 in GB Pound Sterling.
I received a very rude reply (dirct he calls it) that in effect said ,yes that's the price and if you can't afford then I don't think there's any point in further communication.
Talk about how to make friends and influence people!
Anyway what did come out is that he doesn't make them, they are manufactured in Germany, I shall have a hunt around the internet to see if I can find the original source and if so see if it's available at a more reasonable price, failing that I might take a hacksaw to my existing one and see if any material can be trimmed off the ease the flow restriction, although being that the aperture can't be opened out it probably wouldn't make much of a difference.

The Lancia Club Deutschland mentioned these parts so it's likely they are sourcing them in Germany directly (avoiding someone rude in the Netherlands!). Google something like: neue thermostate lancia club deutschland

I may be wrong but the fulvia stat looks very similar to the screw in type that is fitted to early alfas, these are available from all the classic alfa dealers for about £25. Does anyone know if these are any good?

Sean, Don't know if it was fitted to Alfa but supply of the Fulvia thermostat in itself isn't a problem you can still get hold of them, but, and it's a big but, if you go to Viva-Lancia.com and look under Fulvia Advice you'll find a write up by Andre Nistri, and there's another write up somewhere on the site from Hueb stating that the originals are no longer available but Sarva? made a load of reproductions and the problem is they don't have the same surface area as the originals, and flow is reduced by something like 30%, also going by complaints of overheating Fulvias back around about 2002 there seems to be a bad batch of these reproduction ones out there, unfortunately I seemed to have bought 2 of these at about £40 each, which is why I like the look of the new one as it' s supposed increase of flow by 72% fully open, but not a £238 Shocked, I'll do what I've done for the last 18 months which is run without a thermostat and use a rad blind in the winter, I've found even in cold weather with the rad blind she'll run at 150f-160f, which isn't far off of where it should be and I have piece of mind to go with it, I am going to drill a different size bleed hole in each of the two thermostats that I have and see if that makes any difference as 1 has no bleed at all, and the other is about the diameter of a small needle Roll Eyes
