Wondered if anyone could confirm these power figures ? They just seem a bit mental, 600bhp through a 1800 lump, rebuild per race.  Huh?

Best sound I ever heard was the s4's of Markku Alén and Henri Toivonen coming through the forests in the pitch dark night time(Lombard RAC 1985 ).nothing else sounded close to the loudness or as menacing.

Yes I agree with that, saw 2x S4s in action on the 1986 RAC at Badminton (Alen and Erikkson), fabulous, you can't beat a Group B rally car in full flight!

If you haven't seen this before, I recommend it to all you rally fans. (Ignore the brief intro and outro, they've been added.)

I've got this on VHS somewhere, with a different Italian-into-English commentary.
I must dig it out.

I see we're all merrily chatting away about S4 which is great, but did anyone actually come up with any suggestions where Julia might lay her hands on one for a photoshoot, more to the point are there any in the UK?

The only one I've seen recently is the burgundy one shown in that post.
It's not stradale, but it may be the closest available.

likewise, believe it was the same one that was at the race retro, prior to that it would have to be the one at walkers garage. julia has been made aware of both.
if the search for a car is going overseas then Beppe volta would be my first port of call.

I have contact with HLR's  G Volta and A Francone in Turin if you want details call me. Flying there is now about as cheap as filling your car up with UL! (apart from the dreaded APD tax!).

The S4 corsa was between 450-600bhp depending on what they needed.
All man enough to take that power.
The only stradale in UK at the moment is the one in the Historic Motorsport collection in Daventry, the ex patrick collection car is in Turin being re-commissioned. Not by the obvious names mentioned....

Little bit of nostalgia, unfortunately the sound recorded does not do justice to real thing..

Still believe thats how rallys should be run without pace notes, testing the cars and drivers right to the limit.

Paul  (038tipo ) how did a road spec s4 compare to an integrale hf for normal road use, with 10 years of technology changes between them ?
