Not especially cheap, but at 54k miles must be one of the lowest. Miles away from most folk on here though!

Considering its condition i.e. scuffs, scrapes, bonnet mis-aligned, cracked indicators etc its probably a grand too much. If its an LX as stated the headlamp wash wipe system has gone astray (not always a bad thing) but looses out on originality. Very vague advert too with little history mentioned, still with not too much money spent on it, it could be a cracking car assuming the starting price is negotiated and there is no hidden rust.

Cosmetically it looks a bit scruffy, but feels like top money, even for a Turbo?  Still, actually faster than an 8.32, so I understand...?

Have been in touch with the seller, who seems very nice actually. Have advised it is overpriced somewhat. I think they are banking on the mileage rather than condition. Not sure if all LXs had the headlamp wipe - most failed so I believe. If it was priced at £1250 it would be a far more realistic propostion.

What I can't understand is why no engine compartment, boot or underbody photos, with that sort of asking prices it's the least I'd expect.

It is never going to shift at that price. Brian Phipps has been trying to sell his (and mine before him) excellent S1 8v Turbo for 4 months at a very realistic £1200.

The car is immaculate, maintained with a genuine cost no issue approach, has great alloys and a 8.32 black leather interior that I fitted.

It makes this ebay car look tatty.

Plenty of room for price movement according to vendor. Picture of engine on there now. I am not too familiar with the 8v turbo engine, but are those cam covers correct? I thought the 8v had smooth "metal" covers, these look like the black ones that came in the Dedra turbo. An engine swap at some point or am I being too anal?

not sure about an engine swap but I've just had a check with some of my Thema info, and those crackle black covers are completely wrong.
I also had to go to the Dealers "Shop" to find the photo of the engine, that doesn't look particlarly clean either.

This looks an excellent car - much more appealing than the e-bay item.

I'm biased, but yes it is (or certainly was) an excellent car. I'm sure Lindsay will testify to how great a starter it was. Seemed to start as soon as you even thought of applying pressure to the ignition key.

I bought the car in 2002 from its first owner, who owned a car parts business down in South East England. She was cosmetically a bit tired at that stage, but only needed a good T-cut to bring her paint back to tip top.

The engine has maybe faired better than most because the micro-switch on the Overboost had been disconnected so the acceleration was still good, but not as explosive as it is with overboost. I never really drove the car that way in any case, but I suspect the absence of overboost reduced a lot of wear and tear.

Of course, 8.32 leather makes the car something really special to sit in too. It's hard to resist adjusting the rear view mirror so that you can just admire those sculpted rear seats.  Grin
