Very neat - a Delta that has shrunk in the wash, and looks better for it.  Will have great engines too - from the Twinair to the Turbo Multiair.  I don't think we can grumble at this effort - nice one guys.

The new Ypsilon & revised Delta look great and are what we expect a modern quirky Lancia to look like- well done, the 200 (sorry Flavia), 300 (sorry Thema) and Grand Voyager (Grand Voyager Huh?) on the other hand are embarrasing in the pictures and look like the fat bloated yanks (albeit good value) that they are based upon with no imagination at all in their transformation to Lancias. Yes it will be great for us Brits to swap the Chrysler badges to Lancia, but who honestly in the UK is going to do that, especially to the bigger cars?

I don't think Audi/BMW/Infiniti/Jaguar/Lexus/Mercedes will be losing any sleep over these new models unless they change radically, at least the previous 300C was different when first announced, the new one looks too much like the car it's replacing with zero wow factor. The existing Chrysler models provide plenty of car for the money but have been heavily criticised for their build quality, cheap plastics and high running costs and should not be associated with Lancia who traditionally are a prestigious and luxurious marque. Please Mr Marchionne ensure the Lancias are screwed together well with high quality materials and please, please ensure the Thema (& Flavia) looks like a Lancia should, at least change the bonnet/boot/wings, not just the grille and badging before it's too late-there's still time before your'e left with a damp squib on your hands.

When I change my daily driver in the next 8-10 months for something in the £35-£40K bracket, unless something radical happens to these bland and lazy designs, it doesn't look like either Lancia or Alfa will be coming up with the goods, with these new models they will be uncompetitive in the leasing department and will suffer monstrous depreciation. Lets hope I'm proven wrong.

All may need not be lost though, I may save myself £20K and be tempted by a late 2009 Thesis, at least its what one expects from a Lancia even if the steering wheel is on the wrong side.

and here are the full details http://www.italiaspeed.com/2011/cars/others/motor_shows/geneva/preview/lancia/ypsilon/1402.html

A 96 month warranty, that's more like it.

Autocar suggest that interior build quality in particular is much improved on the new 300C thanks to much FGA investment.  And the 300C, in its last generation, was not that far off being a decent car - so maybe...  However, I'm at the Ypsi/Delta end of things, and they look good.  Can't find pictures of the revised Delta yet though?

Chris, there's not much to look at in the revised Delta, just the new grille to be honest and an additional engine option.

I really think the new Ypsilon could be the key to Chrysler's potential success in the UK. There is a clear niche for a high spec, well equipped small car that's not a Mini or 500. We have recently been in the market for such a car, as our ultra reliable, economical and fun smart was due to be returned at the end of its PCP contract. For us the Mini was far too big and obvious and the 500 too small (and frankly overpriced and poor value). We seriously considered the Mito and to give my local dealer (Budgen of Shrewsbury) their dues, they were very keen and proactive. But with TCT gearbox only available with Lusso trim, it was very expensive.

We were looking at buying a Fiat 500 Twin Air, but needed the Duologic transmission. In my opinion two very impressive technologies. Unfortunately, Fiat haven't yet made their mind up whether to offer the two together, but now, it appears that the Ypsilon WILL be available with that combination. A hint at it crossing the Atlantic? If we hadn't picked up our new smart For Two this Saturday (from our local Merc/Chrysler/smart dealer), we would have most likely had an Ypsilon on order and bought an old banger until delivery. Oh well, I'll just have to wait till there are some ex-demos available in a couple of years.  As long as the Ypsilon is keenly priced, and it sounds like it will be, Chrysler will have a genuinely good car that attracts younger, most likely first-time Chrysler buyers through their doors. And if it lands on these shores with good build quality (likely as it'll be Polish built) and the aforementioned 8 year warranty, it'll be an even easier proposition to sell. Look at the case of Kia. And having bought in to the brand, and as long as Fiat GB get the after care service sorted, it'll be more the easier to move them upwards into a Delta when it comes to trade-in time.

Let's not forget that within a couple of years, models from the Delta upwards will be genuinely new cars on new platforms and with high levels of European input. So here's hoping. I see the whole rebadging exercise as an interim measure that is designed to generate much needed cash relatively cost effectively, increasing production and dealer capacity. The Ypsi could just be the first step that ensures the survival of the marque.

Better looking and less 'Girly' than the one it replaces, but OMG, that awful grille Sad

I agree with Brian: fantastic apart from the grille. I wonder what the original Lancia grille looked like before they had to graft on the Chrysler /  hybrid grille?

I'm sure, as did the Delta, it will look better in the metal.

Rationalisation eh?  That's the Chrysler grille they grafted on for Detroit last year, but with a Lancia badge on it...

I think it looks very well except for the chrysler'ish grille, also it's very like our family Fiat 500, the over all shape looks very similar even down to the shape of the dash. I still woulden't mind having one though.  Smiley
