« on: 13 January, 2011, 11:20:11 AM »
Hi,
Has anyone got a new set of handbrake shoes for my 1975 1.3 going spare?

Give me a shout if you have!

Cheers

S2/S3 Fulvias :-   A good idea before you haul the brake shoes off the back-plate, is to make a little sketch of what shoe goes where in relation to cam levers, return springs, and pad material on the shoes, etc.   All four shoes are different - leading and trailing, right hand side;  and leading and trailing, left hand side.   None are inter-changeable (without some modification?).

Good advise Roddy.

I remeber having stripped down my first axle to realise it wasnt like anything I had worked on before. Luckily I had another unmolested car, so it was off with the wheels calipers and drum /disk. A lot of time wasted....

But now the handbrake is good as new (as I rarely use it...)

Its not the winning but taking part! or is it taking apart?

Hi all
thanks for the replies, I've been away for a few days so haven't had chance to get back to you all.
Thanks for the tips on removal, I'll bear them in mind!

Richard, many thanks for doing the digging on the relining front. Much appreciated.

Many thanks
Richard

Even better, take a photo of the innards - or several photos!
