I don't know what you mean by fell apart but, if my experiences are anything to go on, the rubber bit falls out of the metal cap.  If you use a lot of Superglue on the rubber, you can glue it back together.  Mine used to last about a year before needing more glue.

It's a bad design with nothing to key the metal and rubber together and to make matters worse, the metal cap is cone shaped so it's juts bound to come apart.  I solved the problem once and for all by welding a thick washer on top of the top nut and that stop it falling out.

By the way, it won't cause a problem when driving because the anti-roll-bars provide enough upward force to keep it loosely together.
