While trawling the net looking for something else, I came across this http://www.saabsunited.com/2010/05/the-saab-lancia-600.html
Not knowing a lot about the subject I followed the link that led to a 19 page brochure with lots of pictures.
I also found page 18 interesting, as in the side view of models in their line up appears to be a Autobianchi/Lancia A112.

How spooky, a few weeks ago I googled 'Lancia Stockholm' looking for perhaps an event I could gate crash as I was going there and I found that article too !

As well as this, which I think has more/different stuff and links to yet more;

What an excellent find!!

Is this pre GM owning Saab??

I love the pro Saab anti Lancia views expressed by Saabists (through Martin's link)

I've just had a look at the other site which was the previous of the site to the link above, on the older site there are comments that it was a crap vehicle that kept overheating so much that the cars were spending longer in the Dealers than on the road, however, on the  later site there are further comments on the subject, seems there was nothing wrong with the Lancia vehicle as designed , but Saab engineers design a new heater to cope with the Country's bad weather, at the same time they put in a new thermostat set at 92c instead of the 87c original, they also forgot to up the coolant capacity, so with the thermostat set to a higher  opening temperature, and without increasing the engine/radiator/capacity, the standard cooling system couldn't cope, hence the overheating was all down to Saab.
And Lancia received more bad publicity that it didn't deserve.

   The original was 82 not 87!
   There was certainly never an overheating problem in the UK.
   The whole idea that you need a hotter thermostat in a colder climate seem a bit strange from the optimum temp for the engine point of view. Very understandable that they wanted a better heater however.
   Overall a fascinating insight into a botched venture.

Although I have no experience of the heater in the Delta, wanting to up the capacity for a cold climate I can understand (capacity is surely more important than absolute temparature?). Upping the operating temp of the engine as well makes little sense to me, after all the engineers will have designed the whole setup at the set temp. To go ahead and change the operating temp 10 degrees higher without a complete redesign/appraisal sounds pretty incompetent to me.

You're right Ben I just rechecked the article it was a slip of my typing finger, 82 not 87, and the whole point of the change was to give a better heater output.
